Gwawr was the name of a daughter of Brychan I. She was married to Elidir Lydanwyn and the mother of Llywarch Hen.

Gwrygon Goddeu is said to be the wife of Cadrod Calchfynydd. If she had been the daughter of Brychan II she would have been two generations earlier than the Cadrod Calchfynydd who was the son of Cynwyd Cynwydion. This suggests that she was the wife of an individual of the same name who is listed in ByS 46 and 47 and consequently was the daughter of Brychan I. PB 3g adds the comment “… whom Tynwedd Faglog violated in Rhydau Tynwedd.” The name Gwrygon appears in that of one of the cities mentioned in HB 66, namely Cair Guricon, i.e. Wroxeter.

Meleri was the daughter of Brychan I and the wife of Ceredig ap Cunedda Wledig. She was also the great-grandmother of the bishop David whose death in recorded in the AC under the year 601:

Dauid episcopus moni iudeorum.

Wade-Evans stated Cain Breit’s epithet means ‘bright’.2 Her name could, therefore, take the form Keinwen which appears in PB 3. The following comment was added to Cain Breit:

… between the fork of the Ogur river.

CB 15 (21)

The followin comment was added to Cain:

… within the fork of the Ogmor.

DSB 12 (21)

Gwladus was the daughter of Brychan II. She was the wife of Gwynllyw ap Glywys and the mother of Cadog. Note, her husband’s mother was Gwawr ferch Ceredig, daughter of Meleri ferch Brychan I.

Gwladus.
